What is Planned Giving?
Simply stated, a planned gift is a donor's commitment to benefit MICDS through an outright gift or a deferred gift that takes effect at death. Planned gifts include bequests, charitable remainder trusts, gifts of life insurance, gifts of a residence or other property. There are a number of gift strategies that can provide tax savings and even lifetime income benefits to the donor. These strategies are typically part of a donor's overall financial and estate planning.
Why make a planned gift?
The support of our educational mission provided by the MICDS Annual Fund and special major gift efforts are greatly enhanced when loyal and thoughtful donors take steps to ensure a legacy of giving. In addition to receiving tax savings, the donor helps to ensure that future generations of students will benefit from the MICDS educational experience.
For more information about planned giving opportunities or if you have already provided for MICDS in your will or estate plans and would like to be recognized as a member of the Eliot & Thompson Society, or should you wish to be an unpublished, anonymous member, please contact Kathy Amberg Smith '64, Director of Major and Planned Gifts, at 314-995-7425 or ksmith@micds.org.
